Appearance:  Minhyuk looks like a pretty average young man, except for his pretty astounding height. He's a bit on the skinny side because of his constant work lifestyle and generally appears a little unhealthy. If he wasn't always smiling, he really would look awfully dead. His most defining feature is his neck tattoo: it extends down with solid ink from his jaw to mid neck, where it creates a choker shape from negative space before continuing again and ending in a diamond on his collarbones.

He has almost-black, slightly red tinted eyes and usually wears glasses or contacts. His glasses usually can hide the puffiness and slight pink tone around his eyes... it kind of looks like mild pink eye. Despite his pallid appearance, he's considered to have a handsome face due to his mother. Minhyuk's hair is a normal black swishy cut, which he slicks back for work. He dresses kind of fashionably, and all his excess money goes to clothes or sneakers. His ears were pierced when he was young, but he rarely wears earrings.

Minhyuk's alternate form is the most striking thing about him. No one he knows on a daily basis/not from villain work has seen this form. His skin turns darker and red, his tattoos invert, and his sclera become black. Compared to that, his eyes become a striking crimson with slitted  pupils. The greatest change is in his hair, which turns white and grows much longer. The front is tied back into a ponytail, but the rest flows around his face. He has pointed ears that have large hoops in them along with smaller studs next to them. Piercings of silver adorn his face on the bridge of his nose and go down his chin. He wears a septum ring. On his face, from his eyes to his ears and from the corners of his mouth to his jaw, there are long threaded sutures. There are also sutures from his hips to his genitals, going around his back. The thread on these can be cut and pulled out if he needs to use it. He has various pairs of needles stuck over his body that can be pulled out and grow back. His nails are long and naturally red, with square tips. He wears pretty much whatever, but always has sets of red and black beads.

Personality: Minhyuk appears to be very friendly and almost too cheerful. He is an optimistic person who likes to joke and seems very easygoing. In the same vein, it seems like he can't read situations well and laughs at the wrong things. He's the type to not get taken seriously due to how funny he tries to be, and often is treated like a doormat. Despite what it would seem, he has a for real complex when it comes to being treated like this and will absolutely not hesitate to take a piece of your hair and break your leg later.

Although most of his personality is accurate, he is a bit two-faced. He's not as nice as he lets on, of course, and plays very dumb. He's a very calculating person, and everything he does is deliberate. His peers kind of catch onto this. They wonder how a man who acts this laughable can be third in their class. He is, however, well-liked by his classmates. Especially the girls--he's a huge gentleman.

Character Background: 

Minhyuk was born in Daegu, Korea, to two unusual parents. His father was a Korean policeman whose quirk was animation of fabric dolls or plushies up to 20 cm in height, and his mother was a Japanese hero who had a shapeshifting quirk. She was well known for her falsely constructed "natural" beauty and showy quirk in Japan, but had chased a certain villain to Korea on a personal vendetta, unknown to even Minhyuk. While working with police there, she met Minhyuk's father, who was immediately taken with her. He eventually won her over and, in an almost fairytale romance, they were engaged. They were both deeply in love with one another and devoted despite the duties of their jobs.

When they had Minhyuk, he was their greatest accomplishment. They couldn't have been happier to have a child and loved him more than life itself. This unconditional love for him and adoration for each other would be the cause of all Minhyuk's struggles.

His childhood was wonderful. Even with two terribly busy parents, he was never left alone. His dad was a gentle and cheerful soul (where Minhyuk gets his personality from, except his dad's way sweeter and more charming) who loved to take his son to the park or use his quirk to entertain him with stuffed animals and puppets. Minhyuk's dad made an incredible policeman because of his caring nature towards victims and intensity towards those who threaten society. On the other hand, his mother was the more wild parent who would take him to the zoo and then shapeshift into his favorite animal, or introduce him to all her hero friends. She had a compassionate but bold personality, who put her everything into whatever she did. She definitely wore the pants in his parents relationship, but He could tell she loved his dad with all her heart. He idolized her more than anything and wanted to be just like her. This dream was supported endlessly by both of his parents.

When Minhyuk was 8, he still had not yet discovered his quirk (it had in fact manifested, but it required other triggers to activate that he hadn't ever done). At this point, his mother had been injured in his childhood multiple times fighting villains, both in everyday hero work and in her confrontations with that certain villain. Although her wounds were never truly life threatening, her husband was also made a target because of their relationship. He was more accustomed to this, dealing with villains and criminals often, but they both grew to fear for Minhyuk's safety--especially given he "didn't" have a quirk at this point. His mother realized the only way to save them both from a life of potential danger was to leave them.

Her execution of this was where it all went wrong. In trying to explain it to his father, she was unable to calmly get across her intentions to him (because she herself was eaten up on the inside by the guilt of hurting her family in the past and future). They were both so blinded by their emotions for each other that they ended up splitting horribly, with neither's true feelings coming across. They both wanted the best for one another, and both should have stayed with each other, but instead separated in bad terms, not talking to one another again. She moved back to Japan to try and chase that hated villain, and Minhyuk and his father stayed in Daegu. His father couldn't give Minhyuk answer as to where his mom was, or why she left them, and so he was left to his own 8 year old conclusion.

His opinion of his mother, and all heroes, changed slowly over the next few years. Where he admired them and wanted to be a hero before, he became jaded and despised heroes. All they ever thought of was their own image, and he wondered if they truly wished for anything other than looking good to the public. If they didn't even care for their own kids, how could they care for society? His upbringing took a huge turn as his father had to take many shifts to supplement the income drop. Although his dad still loved Minhyuk, he never acted the same way. His heart had been broken and there was no way to fill that void; Minhyuk could tell, even as a preteen. Since his father worked so much, he was left alone frequently or passed to his neighbors. Minhyuk felt only pity for his father once he was old enough to realize that he was left to raise a child alone on a police salary and hours and blames his mother for both his father's sorry life and his own hardships. Those hardships were mostly from his own personality. As he internalized his frustrations at his mother and heroes and overall society, his outward personality reflected none of this. He never told even his closest friends and didnt believe in sharing any of his problems. He was always the sweet and upbeat kid, and he gradually grew used to people walking all over him--and thus holding deep grudges.

He discovers his quirk officially when he's 14. He was giving his first girlfriend a Valentine's gift of a teddy bear when he cut the back open to put in a lock of her hair (like a creepy build a bear!). He realizes that he forgot a needle to sew it back but before he can run to get one he transforms into his alternate monstrous form...which is beyond terrifying but kinda cool cus he finally has a quirk, even if he doesn't know what it does other than look strong. He's not one to look a gift horse in the mouth though, so he takes one of the needles out of his skin and uses it to thread. (He later realizes the actual act of placing the DNA into the bear receptacle triggered the transformation.) When he tries to give it to her the next day, he accidentally drops it and hears her cry out in pain. When he calls the emergency people, they don't understand how a young healthy girl could have broken both her legs and am arm in broad daylight with so many witnesses saying nothing happened.

When he went to the hospital to give her the bear, she was knocked out on pain medicine. As he was leaving, while her parents were out of the room, he made the bear "wave" at her. He was shocked to audibly hear the snapping of bones in her arm, and quickly caught on to what was happening.

As a teenager, he believes he's doing the community a favor by testing his quirk using "undesirables" (ie. homeless, criminals, etc.). He decided to use his power to take out the heroes who he believes are so self-absorbed that they are poisoning society. His ultimate aim is his mother and the villain she chased so much, so he attends both undergrad and med school in Japan.

Trivia: 
- Excellent at lip-reading, among other creepy, stalkerish things.
- He got his tattoo when he passed his first year of med school as a celebration to do something wild. He despises it now, thinks it's unprofessional, and HATES that it inverts when he changes into his monster-form.
- Minhyuk actually looks very put-together for his goofy personality. If you saw him in the doctor's office, you might be surprised.
- Minhyuk's style is like airport fashion. He likes shopping and loooves sneakers.
- He has always had girlfriends/boyfriends just for the sake of looking normal.
- He has kidnapped people for the sake of learning about his quirk, soo... yeah he's tortured people. No avoiding that one.
