Name: Tomoe Masatsu
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Nickname(s): N/A
Alias: Slipshot
Nationality: Japanese
Birthday: March 15 (Pisces)
Blood Type: A+

Education: Yuuei/U.A.
Department: Hero Dept.
Class: 1-A

Height: 161 cm / 5'2"
Weight: 47 kg / 104 lbs

Appearance: Tomoe is a small girl with a tendency for large motions. As a result of all that action, however, her pale skin is frequently riddled with scrapes and scratches covered by band-aids of varyiing color and size. Her body is slim, with a petite chest and hips. She has medium ashey brown hair that she keeps cut short in direct opposition to her mother. It is usually tucked behind her right ear. Her large and expressive eyes are dull lilac in color, with thick lower lashes. She has medium-length nails that are usually painted some soft blue or purple to match any jewelry she wears. Her only piercing is in her ears, where she wears studs gifted to her by her father most of the time.

In school, she wears the standard Yuuei uniform. The only alterations are the longer shorts she wears underneath her skirt (because she trips so frequently) and cream-colored leg warmers she wears instead of socks.

Outside of her uniform, she typically wears comfortably chic clothes, preferring leggings or a skirt to jeans. She often is seen in oversized sweaters.

Personality
gentle / intuitive / excitable / ambitious / worrisome / finicky / self-concious

Tomoe is an honest girl with a hardworking nature. She's a bit childish from being spoiled materially most of her life, but she's working to become more mature along with her quirk. Compassionate and earnest, she strives to be an ideal hero and friend (nevertheless, she's a bit of a stickler). She tries to give everyone attention and make people feel special. However, she's prone to getting flustered or nervous, especially if she's singled out. Drawing attention to herself, in her mind, equates to causing other people trouble, so she always tries her hardest to make things easier for others. She isn't shy, but she's not necessarily confident given her upbringing and lack of control over her quirk.

Despite her own unwillingness to stand up for herself, she will not hesitate if she sees anyone being mistreated, and has very strong morals that often drive her to action. These actions often backfire, seeming disrespectful or uppity, especially if she tries to involve herself in others' business (which she frequently does, she's just curious.). Her empathy for others, particularly those who can't speak up for themselves, comes from her own rejection by her family. Although she won't follow her own advice, she encourages everyone she meets to accept their own talents and recognize how valuable they are.

She's very good at staying calm during crisis situations. Other times, though, it's not so easy.

Birthplace: Japan

Character Background:
Tomoe is one of two children from her wealthy, renown family. Her father is the owner of an international shipping business but also known for being a hero in his early career--as is her family's tradition. They raise at least one hero with their famous quirk: friction. Her father married a quirkless woman (also an heiress, however) to try and guarantee the passing of his quirk without any negative mutation. She and her twin brother were born a few years after their marriage, and within 5 years both developed their quirks.

Although she and her brother have the same quirk, her brother always had a natural affinity to it. He was able to balance himself perfectly without friction and designate what parts of his body needed the friction while Tomoe couldn't even control it on her own body. They were both raised the same, initially, until her parents noticed his proficiency. He was immediately enrolled into the best training, which she went to as well for a short time out of hope. When the instructor indicated to her parents that Tomoe didn't grasp it the same as her brother, and she wasn't on the same level as the rest of the class, they reluctantly pulled her out. From that point on in her life, she was regularly separated from her brother, sometimes forgetting about his existence. She was always reminded, though, either by her mothers' scolding or how she would always be left alone with their estate's groundskeepers, apart from the rest of her family.

Thus, being denied her brother's talent and her parents' attention, she vowed to become a hero that would welcome everyone with open arms. While her brother and father were cold heroes who aimed to save people but mainly sought to display their own abilities, Tomoe desired to be a hero who showcased and inspired others' unique gifts. She admired heroes like All Might, who always wore a smile, and knew that even as she was being groomed to become the heiress to her father's company (while her brother worked as a hero), she would become a hero to surpass her brother. In other words, a hero filled with kindness. She doesn't resent any of her family, despite them only noticing her when it was convenient, but seeks her brother's acknowledgement.

When it was time for Tomoe and her brother to attend high school, her parents revealed to her that he was planning to attend the no.1 hero boarding school in America. They offered her a spot; she denied, knowing the only reason she would get in would be her brother's skill and her family's reputation. Instead, she applied on her own to Yuuei and managed to get into the Hero Department.

Stats:
Power - 3 (C)
Speed - 4 (B)
Technique - 2 (D)
Intelligence - 4 (B)
Cooperativeness - 3 (C)

Quirk: Friction
Type: Emitter
Range:
Close-Mid

Tomoe's quirk allows her control of the amount of friction exerted on or by a surface or substance (or a person!). It has a lot of potential if controlled correctly. She, by touching what she wants to control, can either add friction to it or remove the friction on it. For example, if she wants to slow people down, she can touch the ground to add friction, making it harder to move, or remove the friction from the ground, making it impossible for the enemies to control their own movements. Her most typical use is to remove the friction from her own body, allowing her to move extremely quickly without air resistance, and "skating" over the ground.

It takes her a great deal of concentration to maintain this control on any surface. When she's in her hero costume/doing actual hero things, she becomes so focused that it may cause problems for other heroes (ex. she ignores other threats to keep her powers up, or she accidentally affects them). However, this is most often seen in her out-of-hero use, in which she unintentionally will remove any friction from her body and slip.

Compared to her brother, Tomoe lacks discipline looking at her uncontrollable quirk. Her brother is very skilled in his technique, able to create enough friction in a person's body to stop even their blood. (he's mad op bro! tbh when she masters it shes broken too)

Strong points:
- She can move herself very quickly, and also allow others to move at the same speed (if they can control it, lol. Or else they just slide around.).
- She can easily do crowd control, slowing large groups of people or things in their tracks.
- It's easier, however, for her to stop individuals by touching them and forcing their muscles to stop moving.
- Although not excellent at physical combat, Tomoe can cause damage as she powers herself up by removing air resistance while attacking.

Weaknesses/Limitations:
-
She can only control space within her vision (like the ground) or by touching them. (However, it's easy for her to get close given her speed.)
- She has an extremely hard time keeping more than one thing under her control. In general it's just super hard for her to use and requires a huge amount off concentration!!
- If she adds too much friction or takes too much away, it can be extremely harmful to the body.
- Her powers are influenced by her emotions, which fluctuate frequently since she's like a Teenage Girl TM.

Equipments:
- Tomoe's Goggles - Aerodynamic, but very sturdy. Built to stop her face or head from hitting the ground when she inevitably falls down. Also displays her speed and direction.
- Tomoe's Bodysuit - Built to maintain a shape even with a loss/gain of friction. It has holes for the hands and feet to allow her to touch things she wants to control. It also has protective padding on the joints (for falls) and bracers on her wrists, ankles, and core to enhance her combat (and shield her joints from breaking if she falls on them). She did not intend to wear a bodysuit and is grateful for the slight coverage on her upper half.

Trivia

Her sta.sh folder (alt. outfits, sketches)

- Her hero name is a play on slipshod--because she's often told how clumsy she is in everyday life, she wanted to reflect the difference it makes when she concentrates. It also makes her look stupid if she actually does lose control, however.
- Tomoe is a competitive figure skater. (It helps her train her quirk, too!)
- She really likes utau.
- She's 2nd in Class 1-A academically. ((kicking iida out))
- The only time she doesn't have bandaids to cover scrapes on her body from falling is during skating competitions. She is almost always injured, but they're getting less and less as she grows up.
- Her pinterest closet that needs to be drawn
- Her favorite food is strawberry shortcake, and she loves sweets a bit too much.
- Her favorite drink is a warm mocha with whipped cream.
- She loves wearing high heels, but physically it is extremely challenging for her given her balance problems.
Her playlist (on yt again because im stupid)
- On the weekends, she trains people's dogs for free at a local shelter.
- She considers herself a professional blogger (beauty, food, cafes, travel), although she doesn't have that many followers.
- She's paired with Shoji, but they don't get together officially until their 3rd year.
- She can absolutely not do any housework or cooking. Things always end up worse than they were. (growing up, she always had people to do this for her!)
- Her dad ends up paying a somewhat large amount of money each month to various animal organizations because Tomoe is so weak to those sad dog commercials.
- She is both smarter and stronger than she lets other people see (mostly because she doesn't believe in herself enough to try to show off).
- She loves cafe culture, and always blogs at the latest and cutest cafes.
- She enjoys gardening and takes classes on horticulture.
- She would like a boyfriend who would say, "You can depend on me, Tomoe-chan!"
- She speaks Japanese, Mandarin, English, and is learning French.
- Genuinely loves her brother and family. However, her mother and father often leave her for weeks at a time to visit her brother in California.
- She likes to write snail-mail.
